The Acer Gridvista is simple to install and easy to work with. Acer Gridvista divides the screen into two, three or four sections in which the documents can be dragged & dropped in any of the windows.
The activation of Acer GridVista creates additional icons just beside the normal icons for minimizing, maximizing and closing. After opening a document it is assigned to the window numbers e.g 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 , 1.4 if the four windows option is selected from the configuration by right clicking the configuration option of the GridVista icon in the task bar. The windows will then be automatically resized. The additional icon can be seen in the screen shot which depicts the four window spaces. It’s what is needed for a wide screen monitor. You can also set a window to be always on top or semi-transparent. This is really a wonderful tool to compare some data as in the normal windows the open window is automatically minimized when another is clicked. Having the option to keep as many as four windows open is a great facility on a single monitor.

Try http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5720.html in 'Empowering Technologies and Utilities' select either Acer GridVista.05-22-07.v2.67.522.MUI or AcerGrid_v2.68.614_Vista
The download is for Aspire 5720, but I think it would be OK for all the models.
